Fofi
Fofi was rescued along with her buddy Fivos and the little puppy Georgina from the fires in Athens in the summer of 2023. Due to the dramatic situation on the mainland and the many homeless animals, we decided to give the three fire victims a hopefully temporary home. The three came to our shelter on August 2, 2023. It quickly became clear to us that Fofi and Fivos had fought their way through together and simply belonged together, so the two shared a kennel until the day they left.
Fofi and Fivos stole every visitor's heart—two incredibly gentle, cautious, and calm giants. Fofi and Fivos would never harm a fly; they get along with everyone and everything. Despite having many reasons to be angry at the world and distance themselves, both had their ears cropped, needlessly and painfully. But suddenly, their world seemed to change. Both received inquiries from Germany at the same time, and we were relieved. Finding homes for such large dogs is never easy, let alone for two! Happily, they left us on March 22, 2024, for their last journey together. Fofi has spent 233 days in the shelter.
Fofi had not only won hearts on Paros but also had a secret admirer from the very first day she arrived on the island—a very nice woman from Germany who immediately fell for her. However, she initially decided against adopting Fofi. It just wasn't the right time for a second dog, and a foster home was out of the question, as the risk of wanting to keep Fofi was too great.
The family from Germany already had the lovely Oskar from Paros, who suffered greatly when the family cat passed away in March. Oskar was truly alone for the first time. This brought Fofi back to their minds, especially since she was already in foster care in Germany, only 20 minutes away. Then came that one picture of Fofi, and the family was smitten. So, a first meeting was arranged. And what can we say? Fofi exceeded all expectations and was allowed to stay immediately.
Today, Fofi is part of a large family. Together with Oskar from Paros, she explores the world, completely carefree. Fofi was even part of the first family photoshoot, and the family horse also thinks Fofi is great. Fofi is incredibly loved and cared for. After everything she has likely experienced in her life, she can finally be a dog, happy and so loved. Thank you for this wonderful happy ending!
